Educational and practical departure of students of the Kherson Hydrometeorological professional college to the Kherson branch of the SI “Derzhgruntokhorona”

On September 7 of this year, on the basis of the Kherson branch of the state institution “Institute of soil protection of Ukraine”, as part of the study of the discipline “Methods of measuring environmental parameters”, an introductory lesson was held for 4th-year students of the specialty 101 Ecology of the OSD (Open Structural Division) of the “Kherson Hydrometeorological Professional College OSECU (Odessa State Ecological College of Ukraine)”.

Students were given a tour of the laboratories of the Kherson branch, familiarization with production processes directly related to the analytical study of soil, crop products, fertilizers, etc. Young people learned about the history of the institution, about the stages of its development and growth, about modern achievements and achievements.

Specialists of the Institute introduced students to the main areas of work of the branch, told about the specifics of grant monitoring and preparation of soil samples for laboratory tests, and the main methods of analytics. Leading specialists of the institution got acquainted with the work of the institution and laboratories: Deputy Director, candidate of Agricultural Sciences Svetlana Shukaylo, head of the laboratory of analytical support for agrochemical research Larisa Samokhina, head of the laboratory of environmental safety of land, environment and product quality  Olena Popovych.

Students learned with interest about the scientific activities of the institution, practical use in production of the results of agrochemical monitoring of soils, modern technologies for restoring and preserving soil fertility, which allow obtaining high yields of environmentally friendly and safe crop production.

During the meeting, it was noted that the Control, Research, Conservation and restoration of soil fertility as an invaluable, exhaustive, difficult-to-renew resource should become a priority for land users of our time. Economical, efficient, rational and environmentally safe use of the land fund and its protection in modern realities is one of the most urgent problems that require specialists of the appropriate profile to solve.
