Shared solutions for soil health: a step towards a European partnership
On April 7, the management and specialists of the State Institution "Institute of Soil Protection of Ukraine" made a working trip to the Polesie National University to discuss the possibilities of cooperation within the framework of forming a consortium for participation in the EU program "Horizon Europe".
The focus was on the HORIZON-MISS-2026-05-SOIL-03 initiative, aimed at developing open innovative approaches to improving soil health in Ukraine. This is not only about scientific research, but also about creating a holistic system of interaction between science, practice and public administration.
During the meeting, the participants focused on how to combine the efforts of scientists, farmers, community representatives and authorities to jointly solve problems that have become more acute as a result of military actions. Particular attention was paid to the practical application of knowledge about soils, the availability of modern approaches for land users and the integration of innovations into real land restoration processes.
Participation in the Horizon Europe program opens up new opportunities for Ukrainian specialists to work in a single European scientific space and implement solutions that have a practical effect today.
Cooperation with the Polesie National University will become an important component of this process and another step towards the systematic restoration and preservation of Ukrainian soils.
