Participation in the discussion of the restoration of grounds damaged as a result of hostilities
On April 9, 2026, the National University of Bioresources and Environmental Management of Ukraine hosted a presentation of the methodology and results of remote assessment of arable land and soil damage in regions affected by hostilities.
The event was attended by the Acting Director General of the State Institution "Institute of Soil Protection of Ukraine" Roman Palamarchuk.
The event was organized at the initiative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) within the framework of a joint program with the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) "Restoring Livelihoods and Revitalizing Rural Communities Affected by Mines and Explosive Remnants of War". The study was carried out by the public organization "Society of Researchers of Ukraine" and covers the territories of Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
The event presented approaches to remote analysis of the state of arable land, satellite monitoring results, as well as an assessment of physical soil damage as a result of hostilities.
Particular attention is paid to the practical application of the obtained data - in particular for planning the restoration of agriculture and determining priorities in the field of mine action.
We thank the organizers for the invitation and the opportunity to join the professional discussion of current issues of soil restoration.
