Southwestern Interregional Center of the State Institution INSTITUTE OF SOIL PROTECTION OF UKRAINE

History

The rapid growth in the production and use of fertilizers, the study of their quality indicators, and the chemical reclamation of acidic and saline soils on a scientific basis required a clear organization and increase in scientific research in the field of agrochemistry.

To solve these problems, according to the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated April 9, 1964 No. 319, a unified agrochemical service and zonal agrochemical laboratories were created, of which there were 201 in the territory of the USSR, 25 of them in Ukraine.

The primary task of agrochemical laboratories was to conduct agrochemical surveys of farm soil cover, prepare cost estimates for chemical reclamation of acidic and saline soils, and conduct research on agricultural products and feed, as well as conduct field experiments taking into account soil and climatic zones.

Over time, without changing the main direction of work, agrochemical laboratories undergo reorganizations and renaming, and currently have the name - South-Western Interregional Center of the State Institution "Institute of Soil Protection of Ukraine".
