The Institute Strengthens Its Capabilities with Support from Mercy Corps
Under the leadership of Roman Palamarchuk, Acting Director General of the State Institution “Institute of Soil Protection of Ukraine”, the Institute continues to develop its laboratory base and implement modern soil research technologies. As part of cooperation with Mercy Corps, the Institute has already received two modern laboratory instruments, and another important piece of equipment is expected to arrive in the near future – the FlashSmart elemental analyzer for CHNS/O systems.
The equipment received will make a number of laboratory studies faster, more accurate and technological, and will also expand the Institute’s capabilities for conducting modern soil analysis.
One of the devices received was the ANALYSETTE 22 NeXT Nano laser particle size analyzer manufactured by FRITSCH (Germany). Determining the particle size distribution is an important component of soil research. The ratio of particles of different sizes is directly related to many soil properties and helps to assess its condition and characteristics.
The new laser analyzer allows you to determine the particle size distribution quickly and with high accuracy. Its use significantly simplifies and speeds up the conduct of such studies compared to the classical Kaczynskiy method, which involves longer laboratory procedures.
For the Institute's specialists, this means not just the appearance of a new device in the laboratory, but the ability to perform more studies in less time, while increasing the convenience and accuracy of work.
The second device received is the OHAUS PX225D analytical balance. At first glance, this is auxiliary equipment, but its role in the laboratory process is extremely important. Accurate weighing of samples is a necessary condition for obtaining reliable results during further studies. These balances will be used, in particular, to prepare accurate weights necessary for the operation of the FlashSmart elemental analyzer.
Acting Director General Roman Palamarchuk and the staff of the State Institution "Institute of Soil Protection of Ukraine" sincerely thank Mercy Corps for their support and contribution to the development of the Institute's laboratory capabilities.
We appreciate this cooperation and are confident that the new equipment will become an important practical tool for conducting modern research and work to preserve and restore Ukrainian soils.
