On August 31, 2026, within the framework of the Invitation Program of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a general meeting of the Ukrainian delegation with Japanese professors and consultants was held, dedicated to the exchange of views and summing up the results of study and working visits.

During the previous days, the delegation, which included the Acting Director General of the State Institution "Institute of Soil Protection of Ukraine" Roman Palamarchuk and the Head of the Department Yaroslava Zhukova, got acquainted with the experience of Japanese research institutions, universities and specialized organizations in the field of soil analysis, environmental monitoring and restoration of agricultural lands.

During the meeting, the participants analyzed the knowledge gained and discussed with Japanese experts the possibilities of its application in Ukraine. Particular attention was paid to the formation of a future soil restoration system, improving methodological approaches to their research, standardization and quality assurance of laboratory analyses, as well as the effective use of soil information.

Representatives of the state institution "Institute of Soil Protection of Ukraine" shared their own experience in monitoring agricultural lands and outlined the institution's capabilities in the future system of soil research and restoration. In particular, the Institute has an extensive network of interregional and regional centers, experience in working with large data sets, as well as appropriate capabilities for sampling, laboratory research, mapping and digitization of the information obtained.

Roman Palamarchuk expressed his readiness to cooperate with Japanese scientific and educational institutions, exchange methodological developments and implement new approaches to soil research.
